A free QR code generator that respects your time

Most QR code generators bury you in upsells before you even see your code. Zen QR doesn't. Type your content, pick a style, get a clean PNG or SVG. That's it.

Eight content types in one tool

URL, plain text, WiFi network, vCard contact, email, phone, SMS, geographic location — each with a small form that builds the right encoded payload behind the scenes. The scanning device opens the right action automatically: a browser for a URL, the WiFi prompt for a WiFi code, the contact app for a vCard.

Customize without ruining scannability

Pick a foreground and background color, set the size (64 to 2048 pixels), tweak the quiet-zone margin, and choose an error-correction level (L through H). The preview updates as you type so you catch a too-fancy palette before it becomes a code nobody can scan.

Generated in your browser

Your text never leaves your device unless you click "Save share link". The QR is built locally via the qrcode library — same library banks and government sites use under the hood. We never see your content, we never store it, and there's no third-party analytics watching you type.

PNG, SVG, or both

PNG when you need a quick share, SVG when you're printing a poster and want the edges to stay crisp at any size. Both downloads carry the exact preview you see — no "web version" / "download version" mismatch.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Pick a content type

URL, plain text, WiFi, vCard, email, phone, SMS, or geographic location. Each type gives you the right form fields and encodes the right syntax behind the scenes.

  2. 2

    Fill the form

The preview updates live as you type. The QR is rendered in your browser — nothing is sent to a server while you build it.

  3. 3

    Style it (optional)

Adjust size (64–2048 px), margin, foreground and background color, and error-correction level. Defaults work for ~95% of cases; only touch them if you have a specific need.

  4. 4

    Download

PNG for digital use, SVG for print. Both downloads carry the exact look of the preview — no watermark, no resolution cap.

  5. 5

    Print and test

Always scan the printed proof with two or three different phones before doing a large run. Different camera apps have different tolerances.

Frequently asked

Is Zen QR really free?
Yes — every feature on this page is free, no account required, no "premium" gate. We don't show ads either.
Will my QR codes ever expire?
Static QR codes (the ones built here) never expire — they encode the content directly, so they keep working as long as the destination they point to keeps working.
Can I use the generated QR commercially?
Yes. The QR codes you generate are yours to use anywhere — packaging, posters, business cards, ads, products. No attribution needed.
Why does my QR look different when I change the error-correction level?
Higher error correction adds redundancy so the code survives damage or low contrast — but more redundancy means a denser pattern. Use L for clean digital displays, H if you're printing on a t-shirt or coffee cup.
